Arkansas football’s fall camp is set to begin on Wednesday, July 31, as Head coach Sam Pittman and the Razorbacks look to develop newcomers and solidify positions on the roster. With several key starters lost from last season’s disappointing 4-8 record, position battles will be a key focus during camp.
One player to watch is tight end Var’Keyes Gumms, who had a standout season at North Texas before struggling to find his place with Arkansas. Offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino has praised Gumms for his potential, but he will need to shine during fall camp to earn more playing time behind Luke Hasz and Ty Washington.
Safety Jayden Johnson, who has struggled with consistency in his performance over the last few seasons, will also need to show improvement to hold off younger talent in the secondary. Wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa, a transfer from Hillsdale College, will need to step up his game to stand out in a crowded receiving corps.
Offensive tackle Ty’Kieast Crawford will also be looking to carve out a more consistent role on the offensive line, especially with competition from Michigan State transfer Keyshawn Blackstock. Lastly, wide receiver Bryce Stephens will need to make a case for himself during camp after a quiet 2023 season.
As fall camp gets underway, these players will have a chance to prove themselves and earn valuable playing time for the upcoming season. Arkansas fans will be eagerly watching to see which players rise to the occasion during camp.
