Equipped, a local nonprofit in Arkansas, has been providing essential sports equipment to young athletes who cannot afford items like shoes, socks, sports bras, and more, which are not typically provided by schools. Since its inception a little over a year ago, Equipped has supported over a hundred student-athletes in both winter and spring sports, partnering with 15 schools in the area. Founder Joel Brown, who once struggled to afford sports equipment himself, started the organization to help kids in similar situations.
The organization has made an impact on students’ lives, with heartwarming stories of athletes being able to play comfortably and confidently thanks to the equipment provided by Equipped. Brown’s goal is to expand the organization’s reach to work with every school in Washington and Benton counties. He stresses that there are always children in need of assistance, regardless of the school they attend.
Equipped’s mission to support young athletes in need has been met with positivity and gratitude from the community, inspiring Brown to continue his work. Through partnerships with local schools and donations from supporters, Equipped aims to ensure that every student-athlete has access to the equipment they need to participate fully in their chosen sport. With a focus on empowering youth through sports, Equipped is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of young athletes in Northwest Arkansas.
