Arkansas has made a big coaching move by bringing in former head coach Bobby Petrino as the offensive coordinator for the 2024 season under head coach Sam Pittman. Petrino previously worked as the offensive coordinator for Texas A&M before returning to Arkansas. The Razorbacks finished with a 4-8 record last season, ranking 105th in the nation in total offense. With Petrino on board, expectations are high for an offensive turnaround.
The team will be led by quarterback Taylen Green, wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, and defensive standouts like defensive end Landon Jackson and cornerback Jaylon Braxton. Despite losing key players like quarterback KJ Jefferson and running back Rocket Sanders, the Razorbacks have nine returning starters to build upon.
On the defensive side, Arkansas ranked 46th in the nation in total defensive yards allowed last season, with Landon Jackson leading the charge. The team will be looking to continue their strong defensive performance while improving their offensive production under Petrino.
The Razorbacks have a challenging schedule ahead, with notable games against Oklahoma State, Auburn, LSU, and Texas. Fans are hopeful that the combination of Petrino’s offensive expertise and Pittman’s leadership will lead Arkansas to a successful season. The team’s first game will be against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on August 29th.
