Arkansas Game & Fish Commission announces 33rd Outdoor Hall of Fame Banquet scheduled for Aug. 24

The Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation will be hosting the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. This year’s honorees include Shawn Daniel, Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired) and executive director of Darby’s Warrior Support, an organization that provides hunting and fishing opportunities for post-9/11 Special Operations combat veterans. Steve Lochmann, Ph.D., a professor at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, will also be honored for his 30 years of teaching and research in Fisheries Management and Ecology.

The Foundation’s president, Deke Whitbeck, expressed his excitement for this year’s honorees, noting that each of them represents an entity dedicated to the outdoors. He highlighted the valuable contributions these organizations have made to the state of Arkansas and expressed his pleasure in recognizing their efforts.

Colonel Shawn Daniel’s work with Darby’s Warrior Support has been instrumental in providing a safe and healing environment for veterans dealing with the physical and emotional aftermath of their service. Meanwhile, Dr. Steve Lochmann’s dedication to Fisheries Management and Ecology has produced many biologists for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission Fisheries Division.

The event is expected to draw a large crowd of outdoor enthusiasts and supporters of conservation efforts in Arkansas. It promises to be a night of celebration and recognition for those who have made a significant impact on the state’s outdoor community.
