Day four of the Paris Olympics saw several key events unfold. In men’s hockey, France and Spain were tied at 3-3 with six minutes to go, while in women’s double sculls rowing, Team GB secured a spot in the final. In women’s handball, Germany secured their first win, beating Slovenia 41-22, and in the shooting 10m air pistol mixed team event, Serbia took home the gold.
Australian Lani Pallister withdrew from the women’s 1,500 metres freestyle after testing positive for Covid, saving her energy for the relay. Ben O’Connor replaced Luke Plapp in the men’s road race after Plapp’s crash.
In men’s volleyball, Italy defeated Egypt, and later, the US faced off against Germany. In quarter-finals for men’s single sculls rowing, New Zealand’s Thomas Mackintosh led the race. Germany and Slovenia competed in women’s handball, with Germany leading 16-9 at halftime.
In the 10m air pistol mixed team event, Serbia won gold while India and Turkey claimed silver and bronze, respectively. The day also included events in badminton, beach volleyball, shooting, judo, artistic gymnastics, fencing, rugby sevens, and swimming. Overall, the day was filled with exciting competitions and medal wins across various sports at the Paris Olympics.
