American gymnast and Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik has been announced as the first celebrity for Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars.” The full cast will be revealed at a later date, with Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough returning as co-hosts and Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough as judges. The new season will premiere on September 17 on ABC, Disney+, and Hulu.
Nedoroscik, known as the “pommel horse guy,” gained fame at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games where he helped the U.S. Men’s Gymnastics team win a bronze medal, their first team medal in 16 years. He also won an individual bronze medal on the pommel horse. Nedoroscik, who lives with strabismus, uses his platform to support individuals with low vision.
During the Olympics, Nedoroscik became the subject of Clark Kent comparison memes on social media when he removed his glasses, with the official Olympics Twitter account calling him “the Clark Kent of pommel horse.” In an interview with “TODAY,” Nedoroscik explained that he doesn’t see clearly without glasses but relies on feeling the equipment when competing on the pommel horse. He emphasized that gymnastics for him is all about touching and feeling rather than seeing.
