Hutchinson will become a member of the UA law school faculty in the upcoming year.

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson will be joining the faculty at the University of Arkansas Law School in Fayetteville as an executive in residence during the spring 2025 semester. A graduate of the school in 1975, Hutchinson will be teaching a course on leadership in state and federal government, as well as participating in continuing legal education and moot court programs.

Hutchinson has had a long career in public service, serving as a U.S. attorney, congressman, governor, director of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and in a high-level role in the Department of Homeland Security. He recently ran for the Republican nomination for president but dropped out in January after receiving less than 1% of the vote in the Iowa caucuses.

Hutchinson has reportedly expressed interest in replacing Donald Bobbitt, who will retire as president of the University of Arkansas system by January 15. Currently, Hutchinson is working with Scripps News at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where he posted a photo with the Arkansas delegation.

With his wealth of experience in government and public service, Hutchinson is poised to bring a unique perspective and valuable insights to the University of Arkansas Law School. Students can look forward to learning from his expertise in leadership and government as he takes on this new role at the university.
