Al Jazeera has released videos showing Israeli forces bombing mosques and desecrating copies of the Quran in Gaza. Hamas has called on Arab and Muslim countries to condemn these actions. The footage includes soldiers burning pages from the holy book in a mosque, as well as drone footage of the bombing of a historic mosque. More than 600 mosques and three churches have been destroyed by Israel in Gaza over the past 10 months, according to the Gaza Government Media Office. The Council on American-Islamic Relations has called on US President Joe Biden to denounce these abuses, stating that the war on the Palestinian people in Gaza is also an assault on Islam. Muslim Palestinians in Gaza are continuing to hold prayers next to destroyed mosques, despite being targeted by Israeli airstrikes. Israeli soldiers have been accused of violating Muslim holy sites, such as reciting Jewish prayers in a mosque they had raided in the West Bank. The escalating violence in Gaza has led to the deaths of over 40,000 Palestinians, and the international community is being urged to take action to protect holy sites and end the conflict.
