Another person was arrested later in the day and is being investigated for possible connection to the attack. Prior to the festival, there was no concrete threat reported by police. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed shock at the killings, emphasizing the importance of catching the perpetrator and punishing them accordingly. Solingen’s mayor, Tim Kurzbach, expressed sorrow for the victims and those still fighting for their lives, stating that the attack has deeply affected the community.
