Candidates for city board will determine ballot positions through drawing today

Candidates for the Little Rock Board of Directors will be drawing for their positions on the Nov. 5 ballot during the Pulaski County Board of Election Commissioners meeting. This drawing will determine the order in which candidates’ names will appear on the ballot. At-Large Directors Antwan Phillips and Joan Adcock are both facing challenges to their seats, while At-Large Director Dean Kumpuris and Ward 4 Director Capi Peck are running unopposed for reelection.

Blake Tierney, a former senior project manager at national nonprofit Third Sector, is running for Adcock’s seat, while Jordan Thomas, an agricultural broker at J. W. Nutt Brokers, is running for Phillips’ seat. Former mayoral candidate Glen Schwarz filed paperwork to run against Kumpuris, but was found ineligible to run due to a past felony conviction.

The drawing for ballot positions will take place at the Pulaski County Regional Building at 501 W. Markham St. in Little Rock. This event is significant in determining the visibility of candidates on the ballot, as studies have shown that being listed first can have an impact on voter decision-making.
