Dispensary in Pine Bluff requesting relocation to Ward, other moves currently on hold

Medical marijuana dispensary Speakeasy Dispensary, owned by Casey Flippo, has requested a move to Ward, Arkansas, pending approval from state regulators. The move from Pine Bluff to Ward is up for consideration at an upcoming meeting of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission. In addition to the potential move, the commission will review proposed rules to regulate management companies that operate dispensaries, including requirements for Arkansas ownership and profit-sharing limitations.

Two other requests to move dispensaries to Jacksonville and Benton were withdrawn by the applicants. Green Light Little Rock planned to move to Jacksonville, while Good Day Farm Hensley was set to transfer to Benton. However, both requests were pulled by the applicants. The commission will also assess ownership changes at other dispensaries, including Enlightened Cannabis for People of Heber Springs and Spring River Dispensary in Hardy.

Proposed rules would regulate management companies operating dispensaries, requiring at least 60% Arkansas ownership and limiting profit-sharing arrangements. The rules aim to prevent unfair advantages for management companies and ensure contracts are commercially reasonable. Before the rules can be implemented, they must go through various approval processes, including public comment and review by state authorities.

The commission’s upcoming meeting will address these issues and potential ownership changes at dispensaries, continuing efforts to regulate the medical marijuana industry in Arkansas.
