Sen. Lindsey Graham expressed concerns over reports that North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson made lewd posts on a pornographic website over a decade ago, calling the charges “beyond unnerving.” Robinson has denied the report and plans to stay in the race, stating that he will sue CNN for libel if the allegations are false. Graham emphasized that Robinson must defend himself as the issue is impacting his campaign.
North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein, who is running against Robinson for governor, criticized both Robinson and former President Donald Trump, attributing Robinson’s rise to Trump’s support. Graham believes that the controversy surrounding Robinson will not affect Trump’s chances of winning North Carolina in the Electoral College.
Graham also discussed efforts to overhaul Nebraska’s law to allow winner-take-all Electoral College votes, as currently, the state splits its votes by congressional district. Graham argued that changing the law could prevent Vice President Kamala Harris from becoming president and is supported by the Nebraska federal delegation.
Nebraska GOP Sen. Pete Ricketts supports the change to a winner-take-all system, stating that it would prevent rural voters from being disenfranchised. Graham is seen as a strong advocate for the modification of Nebraska’s Electoral College votes, with supporters estimating a “50-50” chance of passing the bill before Election Day.
