Brittany Furlan, comedian and wife of rocker Tommy Lee, posted a video on Instagram showing a coyote snatching her small dog, Neena, near the pool of their Los Angeles home. Furlan was able to rescue Neena by climbing up a wall and grabbing her from the coyote’s mouth, stating that the dog’s extra weight helped prevent the coyote from carrying her over the wall. The incident occurred in Brentwood, a neighborhood near the Santa Monica Mountains, where encounters with coyotes are not uncommon. Furlan emphasized the importance of keeping pets safe in Southern California by not leaving them unsupervised outside and bringing them inside at night to prevent attacks. Coyotes are known to be attracted to trash and pet food, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife advises precautions to avoid confrontations with these animals. Despite the scary incident, Furlan expressed gratitude that she was able to rescue Neena and shared the video to raise awareness about pet safety in areas where coyotes are present.
