Results for the Rock Committee, a group of supporters of a 1% sales tax increase in Little Rock, has officially been identified as a ballot question committee, as per Arkansas Ethics Commission filings. The committee, led by Patrick Schueck, CEO of Lexicon Inc., aims to support the sales tax proposal with potential contributions and advertising efforts.
Schueck, registered as the treasurer, listed the office location of the committee as the Little Rock Regional Chamber. The committee has named several other members, including individuals from diverse professional backgrounds such as law, finance, and community liaison. The group plans to utilize various forms of media, including mail and social media, to educate citizens on the benefits of the proposed sales tax for the development of industrial, public safety, and recreational projects.
On the other hand, a separate committee called “Citizens for an Affordable Little Rock” has been formed by conservatives to oppose the sales tax increase. The sales tax proposal will be put to a vote on November 5, after a similar proposal was rejected by voters in 2021. Mayor Frank Scott Jr. had previously led efforts to promote the sales tax but faced opposition from multiple committees.
The Results for the Rock Committee is gearing up for a campaign to support the sales tax increase, with a focus on promoting the benefits of the tax for the development of various projects in Little Rock. Overall, the upcoming ballot question will provide voters with the opportunity to decide on the future of the city’s funding and infrastructure development.
