Loblolly set to arrive in Hillcrest – Get the Scoop!

Loblolly Creamery, known for its artisanal ice cream, is expanding to Little Rock’s Hillcrest neighborhood with a new location at 2701 Kavanaugh Blvd. The two-floor space was previously occupied by Damgoode Pies for over 20 years. Owner Sally Mengel promises a new format for their ice cream, still made from scratch but with details kept under wraps.

The Loblolly Hillcrest location is set to open in early spring 2025, but in the meantime, the team will be selling ice cream sandwiches from the walk-up window during HarvestFest on October 12. Other pop-up events are planned for this winter. The fate of the iconic Damgoode marquee sign on Kavanaugh Blvd remains uncertain.

Loblolly Creamery first started at Main Street’s Green Corner Store in 2012 as an old-fashioned soda fountain. They later opened a scoop shop in SoMa, followed by locations in Benton and at the Pinnacle Mountain Visitor Center. Follow Loblolly on social media for updates on their newest location in Hillcrest.

The news of Loblolly’s expansion is welcomed by ice cream lovers in the area, especially with the changing landscape of the former Damgoode building. Sally Mengel’s creative approach to ice cream is sure to bring a fresh and exciting experience to the Hillcrest neighborhood. Stay tuned for more details on the new Loblolly Hillcrest location and its unique ice cream format.
