Second man claims injuries by Northwest Arkansas trooper, attorney reports

Attorney Aaron Cash, representing Angel Zapet-Alvarado, who was shot by State Trooper Alexandria Duncan in July during a traffic stop, has revealed that he has another client claiming to have been injured by the same trooper. Cash is investigating excessive force used by Duncan and is asking witnesses to come forward. Duncan had previously worked at multiple police departments. Zapet-Alvarado, an undocumented immigrant, pled guilty to misdemeanors related to the incident and is awaiting an immigration court hearing.

During the stop, Duncan shot Zapet-Alvarado in the temple after a struggle, which was captured on video and raised questions about Duncan’s actions. Cash and State Police Col. Hagar had contrasting views in media interviews. Cash criticized Hagar’s comments suggesting immigrants should speak English, calling them “absurd.” Duncan’s personnel records revealed no disciplinary actions during her time with the Trumann Police Department.

Efforts to reach Duncan for comment were not successful, though records show her history of awards and positive feedback from the community. Cash declined to disclose plans for legal action on behalf of Zapet-Alvarado but said all options are being considered. The case has drawn attention to issues of excessive force, language barriers, and immigration status in law enforcement encounters with minority populations.
