The Chicago White Sox suffered a historic 121st loss of the season against the Detroit Tigers, breaking the previous MLB record set by the New York Mets in 1962. The team, who won the AL Central division in 2021, has been in a steady decline, winning only 36 games so far this season with six games remaining. Their offense has been a major issue, ranking near the bottom in many statistical categories. First baseman Andrew Vaughn has the highest batting average on the team, hitting .248. The White Sox started the season 3-22, the worst in franchise history, and went on to lose 21 consecutive games, a record. Despite winning nine games each in May and June, the team struggled in July and August, winning only seven games combined.
