Arkansas National Guard Deployed to Florida for Hurricane Milton Relief Mission

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has approved the deployment of more than 100 Arkansas National Guard members to Florida in response to Hurricane Milton, a category three storm expected to hit the Florida Gulf Coast. The troops will stay in Florida for at least 17 days to assist the Florida National Guard with security, traffic control, and food distribution. This deployment comes after several previous deployments to the United States border with Mexico to address issues related to illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and human trafficking. Sanders praised the guardsmen for their bravery and selflessness in helping their neighbors in Florida during this time of need. The troops began preparations for their mission on Wednesday, with active duty members gathering at Camp Robinson in North Little Rock for processing and equipment pickup before departing for Florida via convoy on Friday. Forecasters are warning that Hurricane Milton is one of the most dangerous storms to hit Florida in years, making the assistance of the Arkansas National Guard invaluable in providing aid and support to the affected areas. Sanders emphasized the importance of standing together as one nation to provide assistance to those in need, highlighting the unity and cooperation between states during times of crisis.
