Arkansas quarterback Malachi Singleton, a redshirt freshman, has announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. The Georgia native joined the Razorbacks as a highly recruited prospect and saw limited playing time this season. Despite this, he had a standout performance in Arkansas’ win over No. 4 Tennessee, where he scored the game-winning touchdown.
In his redshirt freshman season, Singleton completed 21-of-28 passes for 358 yards and one touchdown. He earned a Pro Football Focus grade of 80.9 for offense, 69.0 for passing, and 79.9 for running. Singleton is the third player from Arkansas to announce intentions to transfer, joining wide receiver Davion Dozier and offensive lineman Amaury Wiggins.
Singleton had a strong high school career, earning four-star ratings from various recruiting services. He chose Arkansas over schools like Georgia, Georgia Tech, and Miami. At North Cobb High School, he passed for over 2,300 yards and rushed for over 1,000 yards in his junior season.
Arkansas will now await their bowl destination as they move forward without Singleton in their quarterback room. The team finished the season with a record of 8-4. Singleton’s decision to transfer comes as part of a trend in college football, where many players are exploring their options in the transfer portal.
