No. 3 Alabama secures 85-81 win over Arkansas
Grant Nelson and Chris Youngblood led the way with 15 points each as the No. 3 Alabama Crimson Tide claimed an 85-81 victory over Arkansas on Saturday night. This win moves Alabama into a first-place tie with top-ranked Auburn in the SEC standings, with a record of 20-3 overall and 9-1 in conference play.
Zvonimir Ivisic had a career-best performance for the Razorbacks, scoring 27 points and collecting seven rebounds. However, Arkansas had their two-game winning streak snapped with this loss. Adou Thiero contributed 22 points and Johnell Davis added 13 for the Razorbacks.
Despite shooting 54.8 percent from the field, Alabama struggled from behind the arc, shooting just 26.3 percent. Arkansas shot 43.1 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from 3-point range. The Razorbacks made a late push in the game, cutting a 15-point deficit to just six points with under three minutes remaining.
Alabama was able to hold on for the win, with Chris Youngblood splitting free throws in the final seconds. The Crimson Tide scored 14 of the first 20 points in the second half to take control of the game. They shot 59.3 percent in the half, ultimately securing the victory with strong performances from Nelson and Youngblood.
This win marks Alabama’s sixth straight victory and 14th win in their last 15 games, solidifying their position as a top team in the SEC.
