Obituary for Dr. James Harper Bledsoe Published in The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette


Dr. James Harper Bledsoe, a well-respected surgeon from Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away at the age of 81 on February 6, 2025. Born in Warren, Arkansas, Dr. Bledsoe had a distinguished career that included serving as a general surgeon for over 40 years and later as the Medical Director for EMS and Trauma for the Arkansas Department of Health. He was known for his kindness and compassion towards his patients and was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Bledsoe is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cecile, and their three children, Greg, Samuel, and Tricia, who have all followed in his footsteps in the medical and legal fields. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and siblings whom he cherished. His family remembers him as a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather, whose devotion to his family was only surpassed by his faith in Jesus Christ.

A visitation and funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Little Rock on Wednesday, February 12th. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roller-Chenal Funeral. Dr. Bledsoe’s family finds comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in his heavenly home after a life well-lived.
