The University of Central Arkansas Bears are gearing up for the start of their 2025 season with a three-game series against Northwestern State Demons in Natchitoches, La. Head coach Nick Harlan is excited about the team’s blend of new and old players and strong leadership. With the Bears returning 21 players from last year’s roster, including key pitchers and position players, Harlan believes the team is more physical and competitive this year.
The Bears are in their fourth season in the Atlantic Sun Conference and have high hopes for the upcoming season. UCA’s pitching staff, led by starters Charlie Christensen, Lucas Greer, and Coleman MacRae, is experienced and ready to compete. Harlan is especially excited about Greer’s return to the mound after two years of setbacks due to injuries.
On the offensive side, UCA brings back key players like Tanner Leonard, Bryce Cermenelli, Casey Shipley, and Zeb Allen, who has been a standout performer for the team. The Bears have a strong defensive lineup, boasting a high fielding percentage from last season.
The team is looking forward to several exciting matchups this season, including games against in-state rivals, annual matchups with Arkansas Razorbacks, and contests against other ASUN conference teams.
Harlan is eager for a successful start to the season and hopes to see his team play hard, smart, and fundamentally sound baseball. Fans can catch the action of Friday’s and Sunday’s games on ESPN+ and follow live stats throughout the weekend.
