The No Tears Project will be performing at the Center for Humanities and Arts at UA Pulaski Tech on Friday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20-$30 and can be purchased at uaptc.edu/charts. The project, initially formed in 2017 to honor the 60th anniversary of the Little Rock Nine, has collaborated with various musicians and activists to create socially-conscious jazz compositions. Their new album “Humanitics,” set to release on February 25, features compositions by Oliver Lake inspired by tragic events and poems addressing social justice issues. The album also includes reimagined works by Donald Brown and original pieces by saxophonist Bobby LaVell and poet Treasure Shields Redmond. The ensemble, led by Christopher Parker and Kelley Hurt, aims to celebrate human resilience and equality through their music. The album showcases the talents of the No Tears Project members, including Rodney Jordan, Darrian Douglas, Marc Franklin, and Chad Fowler. Guest contributions from Treasure Shields Redmond, Ashley Tate, Michael Scott, and Matt Dickson add even more depth to the project’s sound. “Humanitics” promises to deliver a powerful and emotionally rich listening experience that honors past heroes while inspiring listeners to connect with their shared humanity.
