Arkansas Residents Can Now Easily Store Their Driver’s License and ID on Their Mobile Device

The State of Arkansas has announced that driver’s licenses and state IDs can now be downloaded onto mobile devices as a digital license or ID. This new feature is available through the “Arkansas Mobile ID” app that can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) assures that the digital licenses and IDs are secure and approved by the state. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders believes that this move towards digital IDs brings the state government up to speed with 21st-century technology.

Currently, the digital licenses can be presented as valid ID to participating businesses and venues, with the expectation that more businesses will accept them over time. The DFA has also made the digital licenses available to any business or law enforcement organization to confirm an individual’s identity. The state is working with TSA to have the digital IDs recognized for flight check-ins, with plans for approval expected by the summer.

Arkansas residents can now access their IDs and licenses on their smartphones in a contactless and secure manner. This initiative is designed to make it easier for residents to carry and present their identification when needed. The move to digital IDs represents a step towards modernizing government services and enhancing convenience for citizens in Arkansas.
