Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families Raises Over $200K at Annual Soup Sunday Event

The 44th annual Central Arkansas Soup Sunday benefit was a huge success, raising a record-breaking $216,455 for Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families. The event, held at The Venue at Westwind in North Little Rock, featured 30 soup entries from local restaurants, with SO Restaurant-Bar winning the coveted Dave Williams Golden Ladle award for its smoked gouda green chile soup. Afrobites and It’s Time To Eat also placed in the top three with their delicious soups. The event was co-chaired by Dr. Gene Lu and Kevin Shalin, and emceed by former Miss Arkansas Cori Keller. In addition to the soup competition, an online auction raised $45,000 with items like a tour of the KARK-TV Channel 4 studios with Todd Yakoubian, a birthday party with members of the Little Rock Police Department, and mahjong lessons. One lucky bidder won the chance to “party all the time with the Arkansas Times” for $150. The event was a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and support a great cause, while enjoying delicious food and fun activities. The success of this year’s Soup Sunday benefit demonstrates the generosity and support of the Central Arkansas community towards helping children and families in need.
