Local organizations are coming together to host an event called “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” to educate the public on how to get involved in their community and organize for social change. The event, organized by the Central Arkansas Democratic Socialists of America, will feature representatives from various groups such as Arkansas Renters United, Arkansas Abortion Support Network, and Grassroots Arkansas. The goal is to challenge power and expand democratic control of institutions in Little Rock.
Lauren Long, a volunteer with the Central Arkansas Democratic Socialists of America, emphasized the importance of taking action to create a safer and more just world, rather than relying on traditional politics. The event aims to provide a space where people can find ways to make a meaningful impact based on their interests and abilities.
The “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” organizing fair will take place on Saturday at UA Little Rock Downtown from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will showcase a wide range of organizations working towards social change and community involvement. With around 30 participating organizations, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about different ways to get involved and make a difference in their local community.
