Uncovering the Deceptive Strategies of Crisis Pregnancy Centers Through Mobile Billboards

Mayday Health, a nonprofit organization, is raising awareness about the discrepancies between expectations and reality when it comes to unregulated pregnancy centers in Arkansas. The group recently launched a rolling billboard campaign in Jonesboro and Paragould, warning women that information shared at these crisis pregnancy centers may not be private and the options offered may be limited.

With Arkansas’s total abortion ban in place, pregnant women in the state have limited choices and may not be fully informed about all available options. The crisis pregnancy centers, which now receive state funding, do not provide information about abortion pills available through mail-order providers in other states, nor do they refer women seeking abortions to clinics outside of Arkansas.

Mayday Health’s goal is to educate people about the potential risks associated with unregulated pregnancy centers, as they are not subject to the same regulations as medical providers and may not protect client data adequately. The organization aims to shed light on the coercive tactics used by some crisis pregnancy centers to sway women towards carrying their pregnancies to term.

Despite an increase in taxpayer funding for crisis pregnancy centers in Arkansas, there has been no corresponding increase in oversight or accountability. Mayday Health’s efforts seek to ensure that individuals are aware of the limitations and potential risks associated with unregulated pregnancy centers, ultimately advocating for better access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare options for all Arkansans.
