Governors Secure Series Win against Bears

In a tough loss on Sunday afternoon, the University of Central Arkansas Bears fell to the Austin Peay Governors 9-5 in the series finale at Bear Stadium. Despite out-hitting their opponents 14-9, the Bears struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving 11 runners on base. Senior catcher Casey Shipley led the team with three hits, while several players contributed with multiple hits each.

The Bears took an early 4-1 lead in the first inning, but the Governors rallied back with six runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. UCA managed to score one more run in the seventh inning, but ultimately fell short. In the eighth inning, the Bears loaded the bases but were unable to convert, and APSU added two more runs in the ninth to secure the victory.

Looking ahead, the Bears will continue their homestand with games against ULM on Tuesday and Arkansas State on Wednesday. They will then host Eastern Kentucky in an upcoming ASUN series. Despite the loss, the Bears will look to bounce back and continue their strong performance as they face tough competition in the coming weeks.
