Obituary of Virgil Willard Morton published in The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette


North Little Rock, Arkansas – Virgil Willard Morton, a beloved member of the North Little Rock community, passed away peacefully on Monday at the age of 97. Born in Tuckerman, Arkansas in 1927, Virgil served in the US Marine Corps during World War II before working in Rockford, Illinois for many years. He retired to Arkansas where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Virgil was a devoted family man, known for his Sunday fish fries and love of the outdoors.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Marie Murphy Morton, stepchildren Murphy Rhodes and Martha Grover, as well as many other family members. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his faith, and his love for the outdoors. A military graveside funeral service will be held in his honor at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery on March 31st.

Virgil’s passing is mourned by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
