Arkansas baseball team aiming for redemption after upset loss ahead of matchup with No. 13 Vanderbilt | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

University of Arkansas baseball Coach Dave Van Horn addressed his team’s recent loss to Missouri State during a practice session, where he emphasized the need for improved fundamentals after blowing a five-run lead. Despite the disappointing midweek defeat, the Razorbacks (23-3, 5-1 SEC) are in a strong position in the conference standings.

Looking ahead, Arkansas is set to face No. 13 Vanderbilt in a crucial three-game SEC series starting Friday night. Vanderbilt (20-5, 4-2) has had mixed results this season, defeating strong teams but also falling to some lower-ranked opponents. The series presents an opportunity for Arkansas to make a statement on the road.

Arkansas will stick with the same starting rotation that led them to success in their previous series. Left-hander Zach Root, righty Gabe Gaeckle, and lefty Landon Beidelschies will take the mound in consecutive games against Vanderbilt’s tough pitching staff. Van Horn is looking for improved performances from his starters, particularly Gaeckle, who had a strong outing against Ole Miss but struggled against South Carolina.

The series holds significance for both teams as Arkansas aims to bounce back from their midweek loss and Vanderbilt seeks to maintain their unbeaten home record. The first game is set for 7 p.m. Central on Friday at Hawkins Field in Nashville, Tenn. Fans can catch the action on SEC Network.
