Greg Hatcher, the man behind bringing a Division I wrestling program to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, has been nominated for induction into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame. Hatcher, a former wrestler and coach, has made significant contributions to the sport of wrestling in Arkansas, establishing programs in high schools and colleges across the state.

Hatcher’s efforts in promoting wrestling have not gone unnoticed, as he has been honored with several awards, including the Dan Gable America Needs Wrestling Award and being named WIN Magazine’s Man of the Year. His dedication to the sport has been recognized by both the Arkansas Wrestling Hall of Fame and the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

In 2018, Hatcher donated $1.4 million to Little Rock Athletics to establish the Greg Hatcher Wrestling Center, which has helped the university’s wrestling program thrive. Under the leadership of head coach Neil Erisman, the Trojans have had a successful season, capturing the Pac-12 regular season title and finishing within the top 20 at the NCAA Championships.

Hatcher’s nomination to the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame is a testament to his lasting impact on the sport of wrestling in the state. Voting for the 67th class of inductees will continue until October 31, with Hatcher being recognized for his dedication and contributions to the sport.
