Sandman wins Arkansas Derby and secures a spot in the Kentucky Derby


In a thrilling race at Oaklawn, Sandman secured his first stakes victory by winning the Grade 1, $1.5 million Arkansas Derby with a 2 1/2-length lead over Publisher. Ortiz highlighted Sandman’s impressive performance and readiness for the Kentucky Derby, expressing excitement for the upcoming race. Sandman races for D.J. Stable, St. Elias Stable, West Point Thoroughbreds, and CJ Stables after being purchased for $1.2 million at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales.
