The University of Arkansas has announced the appointment of Dr. Indrajeet Chaubey as the new provost and executive vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, effective July 1. Chancellor Charles Robinson expressed his confidence in Chaubey’s ability to lead the university to new heights, citing his extensive experience in higher education and track record of advancing student success, research, and faculty excellence.
Chaubey, a former faculty member at the University of Arkansas, returns from the University of Connecticut where he served as Dean of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources. During his time at UConn, Chaubey oversaw significant increases in enrollment, scholarship funding, research funding, and the creation of new degree programs.
Chaubey brings expertise in hydrology and water quality to his new role, with a focus on watershed management strategies and their impact on water availability, water quality, crop production, and ecosystem sustainability. He holds a doctorate in biosystems engineering from Oklahoma State University and has previously held positions at Purdue University and the University of Allahabad in India.
Chancellor Robinson expressed his gratitude to the search committee for finding the right person for the role and thanked outgoing Provost Terry Martin for his dedicated service to the University of Arkansas over the past 40 years. Chaubey expressed his excitement to work with faculty, staff, students, and university leadership to continue advancing the university’s mission of academic excellence, research, and service.
