Iranian Supreme Leader warns of retaliation if Trump threatens to bomb country

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned the U.S. that it would face a strong response if it followed through on President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Tehran if they did not agree to a new nuclear deal. Khamenei stated that any aggression towards Iran would be met with a reciprocal blow and that the Iranian people themselves would deal with any attempts to cause unrest in the country.

In response to Trump’s ultimatum, Iran indicated that they were not willing to engage in direct negotiations but were open to continuing talks indirectly. The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson condemned Trump’s threat of bombing as a violation of international peace and urged the U.S. to choose a path towards peace instead of violence.

Trump withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions, leading Iran to exceed the limits on uranium enrichment set by the agreement. The West accuses Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons, while Iran maintains that their nuclear program is for civilian energy purposes.

Overall, tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to escalate, with both sides engaging in threats and ultimatums regarding a new nuclear deal. The situation is further complicated by recent unrest in Iran, which the authorities blame on external forces.
