The newly resurrected Arkansas-based doom/sludge metal band Rwake released their album “The Return of Magik” on March 14 via Relapse Records, breaking the traditional heavy metal mold. The band reformed after a 13-year break with a refreshed musical style that defies classification. Rwake’s members, who have been playing together for 30 years, took a break to focus on family and other pursuits before regrouping to prioritize the band.
