Arkansas Razorbacks Sweep Missouri Tigers in Historic Fashion
Arkansas baseball showed its dominance over Missouri in a three-game series over the weekend, sweeping the Tigers in what could only be described as a historic beatdown. The No. 2 Razorbacks set a new school record by scoring 51 runs in the series, the most ever in an SEC series in just 18 innings. The previous record was set in 1997 against South Carolina.
The Razorbacks’ lineup proved to be a nightmare for the Tigers, with Arkansas putting up eye-popping offensive numbers. The team slashed .469/.600/.776 for a 1.376 OPS, collected 9 doubles and 7 home runs, and managed to score 51 runs while recording only 54 outs. Missouri pitchers issued a staggering 35 free passes, walking 29 Razorbacks and plunking six more.
On the pitching side, Arkansas’ bullpen was nothing short of dominant, combining for eight scoreless innings against Missouri, allowing just three total base runners and racking up 13 strikeouts.
Sophomore Cam Kozeal was a standout performer for the Razorbacks, going 9 for 12 with 3 doubles, 2 home runs, 3 walks, 13 RBIs, and 8 runs in the series. His performance raised his batting average to a team-high .419.
The Razorbacks will face a tougher schedule ahead, with a trip to Georgia next weekend. But first, they have a midweek game against Arkansas State on Tuesday. With an 11-game winning streak in conference play, the Razorbacks are looking to continue their impressive form as they face tougher opponents.
