Arkansas offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino is excited about the new additions to the tight end room this season, including Montana State transfer Rohan Jones. The 6-foot-3, 236-pounder has impressed coaches with his speed and explosive play during spring practices. Jones was a First-Team FCS Football Central All-American last year, recording 30 receptions for 470 yards and nine touchdowns.
Petrino praised Jones for his improvement and understanding of the game, noting his competitiveness and toughness. Jones has been getting the majority of reps with the first-team offense, and despite not catching many passes early in spring, quarterbacks have been targeting him more frequently.
With former Hog Luke Hasz transferring to Ole Miss, Jones has the opportunity to become a key target for veteran quarterback Taylen Green. Linebacker Stephen Dix Jr. praised Jones for his route running and competitiveness, stating that he is a great addition to the team.
The Razorbacks have also added other newcomers at tight end, such as Texas A&M transfer Jaden Platt, JUCO transfer Jeremiah Beck, and freshman Gavin Garretson. However, it is Jones who has stood out so far in spring practices. The team is preparing for the upcoming Red-White spring game on April 19 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.
