The University of Central Arkansas Bears suffered a tough 9-6 loss to the Little Rock Trojans in Game 2 of the “I-40 Showdown” series. Despite holding a 5-4 lead, the Bears couldn’t maintain it over the final three innings. Freshman catcher Carter Alexander had a strong performance, going 2 for 4 with 3 RBI in his season debut. Senior Sam Reynolds and junior Keon Moseni also contributed offensively.
The Trojans rallied in the late innings, scoring three runs in the seventh and adding one each in the eighth and ninth. UCA’s lone run during that stretch came from Moseni’s solo home run, his first of the season. The Bears used five pitchers in the game, with freshman Luke Lorence taking the loss in the middle relief.
Despite the loss, the Bears will turn their focus back to ASUN action as they prepare to face Bellarmine in Louisville, Kentucky, this weekend. Game times are set for 2 p.m. (CST) on both Friday and Saturday, and noon on Sunday. UCA will look to bounce back and secure some wins in the upcoming series.
