Israeli soldiers in the West Bank are responsible for the death of an American teenager, but the U.S. government has remained silent.

Amer Rabee, a 14-year-old American boy from Turmus Ayya in the West Bank, was shot and killed by Israeli soldiers who labeled him a terrorist for allegedly throwing rocks at cars. Despite being a U.S. citizen, his family feels that President Trump and the U.S. government have not done enough to address his killing. The family describes Amer as intelligent and without any problems in the West Bank, where they moved in 2013.

After Amer’s death, his family struggled to reach the U.S. Embassy for help, feeling that their pleas for intervention to save his life fell on deaf ears. The embassy eventually acknowledged Amer’s death and offered condolences, but the family wanted more support from President Trump.

The village of Turmus Ayya, also known as “Little America,” is home to many Palestinian Americans who have dual citizenship and maintain ties to both the U.S. and the West Bank. However, the village faces dangers from settler violence and raids, which have intensified in the region. The IDF’s response to alleged rock-throwing incidents by teenagers has resulted in multiple deaths in the area.

Amer’s family believes that the shooting of teenagers like Amer, for engaging in what they describe as harmless teenage behavior, is unjust and should not result in death. They call for attention to be brought to the plight of Palestinian American children who are impacted by the conflict in the region.
