Back Home BBQ, the newest barbecue joint in downtown Little Rock, is set to officially open for business on Friday at 11 a.m. The restaurant, located at 801 W. Markham St., will initially have limited hours on Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. until sold out, with plans to expand to Thursday through Sunday after a month of operation. The restaurant, which mysteriously appeared with two barbecue pits overnight in the summer of 2023, can accommodate 99 guests in the downstairs dining room, with an additional 99 guests expected to be accommodated in the upstairs portion once it is completed.
The pitmaster at Back Home BBQ is Curtis Guerrero, a Houston-native with experience from Pinkerton’s Barbecue of Houston and San Antonio. Guerrero will be using two 1,000-gallon offset pits made by Primitive Pits of Georgia, the same style and brand used by other successful Arkansas barbecue joints. The restaurant will offer a counter-service style ordering system where meat is cut to order and served with sides and accouterments of choice.
The news of Back Home BBQ’s opening has been met with excitement by locals, as the owners aim to fill a gap in the area for barbecue and nightlife options. Co-owner Adam Murray expressed enthusiasm for the opening and looks forward to welcoming guests to the new establishment.
