Community Mourns the Passing of Calvin Shackleford, Jr.
Little Rock, AR – The community is mourning the loss of Calvin Shackleford, Jr., 85, who passed away peacefully on April 22, 2025. Born on September 16, 1939, in Little Rock, Calvin was a respected figure known for his deep faith, integrity, and unwavering love for his family.
A proud veteran of the US Air Force, Calvin embodied the values of discipline and loyalty throughout his life. He graduated from Arkansas Baptist College and was a member of the Horace Mann High School Class of 1958. Calvin was heavily involved in his community and served actively on the Usher Board of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where he left a lasting impression on many.
Calvin is survived by his loving wife, Parthenia "Tina" Harris Shackleford, and their children, R. Barry Shackleford, Karen Henderson, and Karla Porch. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, ensuring his legacy of love and kindness continues.
Predeceased by his parents and four siblings, he leaves behind three siblings who will carry on his memory. Friends and family alike remember Calvin for his commitment to family and community, as well as his genuine spirit that uplifted those around him.
Homegoing services will take place on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. John MBC, located at 2501 S. Main St. in Little Rock, with visitation starting at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Arrangement details are provided by Ruffin and Jarrett Funeral Home. The family invites friends to join them in celebrating Calvin’s remarkable life.
