SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane residents are coming together to celebrate "509 Day" on May 9th, an annual event honoring the city and its unique identity. Named after the region’s area code, this year’s celebration showcases over 40 local businesses offering special promotions, including items priced at $5.09 or discounts of 5.09% off purchases.
Charlotte Finnegan, Director of Visitor Experience at Visit Spokane, expressed excitement for the event, emphasizing the opportunity to highlight all the enjoyable activities in the 509 area. "We also want to thank our hospitality workers for all that they do in welcoming visitors," she noted, underscoring the importance of the local workforce amid National Travel and Tourism Week.
Organized by the Downtown Spokane Business District, 509 Day aims to boost foot traffic to local shops and foster community pride. Participating businesses span a variety of sectors, including restaurants, retail stores, entertainment venues, and service providers, each featuring unique offers for residents and visitors alike.
