#8 Arkansas Clinches Series Victory Over #17 Tennessee in Regular Season Finale

Arkansas Secures Series Win Over Tennessee with Stellar Performances

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks clinched a series victory against No. 17 Tennessee with an 8-4 win at Baum-Walker Stadium on Saturday. Ryder Helfrick shone at the plate, driving in five runs, while Will McEntire delivered 3.2 scoreless innings in relief. This victory marked Arkansas’s sixth season achieving 20 wins in SEC play, a feat accomplished in three consecutive seasons under head coach Dave Van Horn.

In a strong offensive showing, Helfrick’s grand slam in the third inning helped propel the Razorbacks to a 6-2 lead. Starting pitcher Gage Wood set the tone with three effective innings, striking out seven while Landon Beidelschies added another 2.1 innings of support, keeping the Volunteers in check.

Wehiwa Aloy extended the Razorbacks’ lead to 7-2 with his 18th home run of the season in the fourth inning, tying the program’s single-season home run record of 109, previously set in 2021. An RBI single from Logan Maxwell capped the scoring for Arkansas, bringing the final tally to 8 runs. Although Tennessee responded with a two-run homer in the sixth, McEntire retired all 11 batters he faced to secure the Hogs’ victory and earn his second save of the season.

Aloy’s impressive performance raised his batting line to .358/.440/.677, showcasing his significant contributions this season. Meanwhile, Helfrick made history as he became the sixth Razorback to hit 10 or more home runs in a single season.

With this win, Arkansas has earned the No. 2 seed for the SEC Tournament, set to commence at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. They will face the winner of the Florida/South Carolina vs. Ole Miss game on Friday, May 23, at 3 p.m., as they continue their postseason pursuits.
