Kathy McLeod expressed relief upon learning about the approval for federal aid, stating, “They shouldn’t have denied it — they should have at least said, ‘We’re working on it.’ That way, people wouldn’t have thought they were just forgotten.” McLeod planned to share the uplifting news with Knappenberger during a visit to her physical therapy appointment, which was necessitated by injuries sustained during the storm.
