Weather Alert: Strong Storms Expected in the Ozarks Tonight
Good Sunday evening, Ozarks residents. After an unanticipated rainy night, we remain under a First Alert Weather Day as another round of storms approaches. A stationary front located south of the region is set to bring rain and thunderstorms late tonight into Monday morning.
Forecasts indicate that storms will likely begin in northern Arkansas around 11 PM. Initially, these storms may reach low-end severe levels with potential wind and hail threats. Overnight rain will vary in intensity, transitioning into moderate to heavy rainfall by Monday morning. Rain chances will continue throughout Monday, but are expected to lessen by midday, with isolated rumbles of thunder possible later in the day.
Rainfall totals are projected to range from half an inch to 1.5 inches across much of the Missouri Ozarks, with northern Arkansas possibly receiving 1.5 to 3 inches. Consequently, a flood watch remains in effect for the Ozarks until 7 PM on Monday.
While Tuesday will see a marked decrease in rain, mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers are expected to persist. The weather is set to clear by Wednesday, offering partly sunny skies. However, another disturbance is anticipated to bring scattered showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
As we look ahead, drier and warmer conditions are forecasted for next weekend, with temperatures expected to climb into the upper 70s and near 80 degrees. For Memorial Day, expect highs in the lower to middle 60s, with slightly warmer temperatures pushing into the 70s by Tuesday.
Stay weather-aware and prepared, as conditions can change quickly. Enjoy the rest of your evening!
