Arkansas Softball Star Bri Ellis Named 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Bri Ellis, a senior first baseman for Arkansas Softball, made history on Tuesday by being named the 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year during the Women’s College World Series Banquet at Science Museum Oklahoma. This honor marks Ellis as the first Razorback to receive the award and just the fifth position player since its inception in 2002.

Ellis expressed her gratitude, saying, “This award means so much to softball history… I’m super proud of myself and my team.” Her acknowledgment of her coaches and teammates highlights the importance of collaboration in reaching this milestone.

In a remarkable season, the Houston native achieved one of the most impressive offensive records in NCAA history, batting .440 with 26 home runs, 72 RBI, and a staggering 1.729 OPS. She shattered single-season program records for home runs, RBI, and runs scored while tying the SEC record with her 26 homers. Remarkably, she ranked second nationally in both home runs and walks per game.

Ellis continued her dominance through conference play, finishing with a .397 batting average, 11 home runs, and posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Recognized for her exceptional performance, she had also previously earned titles such as National Player of the Year by Softball America and SEC Player of the Year.

The USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award is determined through votes from coaching representatives, media, and past winners. Alongside Ellis, fellow finalists included Jordy Bahl of Nebraska and NiJaree Canady of Texas Tech.
