Bri Ellis Named Finalist for Honda Sport Award
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas Softball senior first baseman Bri Ellis has earned a prestigious spot as a finalist for the Honda Sport Award, announced by the Collegiate Women Sports Award (CWSA) on Friday. Ellis joins Danielle Gibson (2022) as the only Razorback players in history to receive this honor.
The Honda Sport Award, celebrating its 49th year, recognizes the top female athletes across 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and serves as a pathway for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the esteemed 2025 Honda Cup. Since its inception in 1976, only 22 Arkansas student-athletes have been named finalists.
Ellis has already garnered multiple accolades this season, including the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, D1 Softball Player of the Year, and SEC Player of the Year. She stands out for her remarkable offensive performance, hitting .440 with 26 home runs and 72 RBI, setting single-season records in multiple categories for Arkansas and tying the SEC for home runs. Notably, her 1.729 OPS ranks among the highest in NCAA history.
Through 58 games, she averaged a home run every 5.15 at-bats and was pivotal in conference play with a .397 batting average, leading the SEC in home runs and RBI. Defensively, Ellis excelled with a perfect fielding percentage, committing no errors in 307 chances during SEC play over her two seasons.
Finalists for the Honda Sport Award are selected by a panel of experts from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). The award winner will be announced later this week following voting from NCAA member schools.
