Obituary: Clark Potts, 93, Devoted Family Man and Community Contributor
Abilene, Texas—Clark Potts, a beloved figure in Abilene, passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 93, at Hendrick Hospice Care. Born on August 13, 1931, in Western Grove to Clinton M. and Mary Suzette Clark-Potts, Clark spent his formative years in Rogers and various towns across Northwest Arkansas.
His journey led him to Abilene Christian College, where he met and married his lifelong partner, Audrey Kitchens Potts, in 1953. Clark’s professional career began with Cities Service Oil Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. In 1964, the couple returned to Abilene, dedicating their efforts to Abilene Christian University until their retirement in 1993. Known for his unwavering devotion to family, faith, and service, Clark leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment.
Clark is survived by his three children, Avery Potts and wife Cathy, David Potts, and Shannon Jones and husband Vance, all of Abilene. He is also remembered fondly by four grandsons—Bryan, Taylor, Brenham, and Hayden Potts—and four great-grandchildren—Kaylyn Ard, Kynzie Ard, Ryann Potts, and Nolan Potts. His brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Johnnie Potts of Edmond, Oklahoma, also mourn his loss, alongside other relatives and friends.
A private family graveside service will take place at Western Grove Cemetery under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel of Harrison. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Tipton Children’s Home in Tipton, Oklahoma, or Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene, Texas.
Clark Potts will be remembered as a devoted family man who touched the lives of many in his community.
