Trump promotes baseless conspiracy theory alleging Biden was ‘executed’ in 2020

On Saturday night, former President Donald Trump shared a baseless conspiracy theory on Truth Social, alleging that President Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced by clones or robots. The original post, made by an anonymous user known for spreading outrageous claims, suggested Biden was substituted with “clones, doubles,” and “robotic engineered soulless mindless entities.” Trump shared this post with his nearly 10 million followers, offering no context or clarification. The original poster has a modest following of about 5,000.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment regarding Trump’s endorsement of this theory or whether he believes Biden had been executed. Over the years, Trump has frequently spread misinformation, such as his false claims of winning the 2020 election, which contributed to the January 6 Capitol attack. He has also made debunked statements about former President Barack Obama’s citizenship and issued bizarre remarks, like suggesting Haitian immigrants were “eating the pets.”

Trump’s associates have similarly circulated misleading narratives, particularly surrounding vaccine misinformation and claims of governmental conspiracy against him. Recently, Biden disclosed he has metastatic prostate cancer, which initially garnered public sympathy but quickly shifted to accusations from Trump allies that Biden had concealed his diagnosis. A spokesperson clarified that Biden had not previously been diagnosed with this cancer.

Since the cancer revelation, Biden has asserted his well-being and humorously addressed concerns about his mental capabilities. Trump’s reposting of the bizarre claim aligns with a pattern of intensified criticisms against Biden, including scrutiny over the use of autopens for signing legislation, which Trump has used to question Biden’s mental fitness.
