Arkansas State Parks Hosts Free Fishing Weekend: An Exciting Opportunity for Anglers

Arkansas State Parks is set to host its annual Arkansas Free Fishing Weekend from noon on Friday through Sunday night, allowing residents and non-residents alike to fish without a license or trout stamp. Sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, this initiative makes fishing accessible while still enforcing daily limits and regulations.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ proclamation enables this weekend event, highlighting Arkansas as a prime destination for anglers with access to 12 rivers and 29 lakes. Described as “The Natural State,” Arkansas is renowned for its crystal-clear waters and well-managed habitats, making it ideal for both seasoned fishermen and casual weekend adventurers.

"Arkansas Free Fishing Weekend is a fantastic opportunity for families and friends to reconnect with the great outdoors," said Shea Lewis, secretary of Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. Fishing enthusiasts can explore various parks, including Lake Greeson at Daisy State Park, Lake Chicot, the largest natural lake in Arkansas, and Bull Shoals-White River State Park, famous for its world-class trout fishing.

Full-service marinas and boat docks provide essential amenities including boat rentals and fishing supplies, ensuring a seamless fishing experience. After the conclusion of the free weekend, anglers can easily obtain fishing licenses online or via the AGFC mobile app.
